    A NOTE FROM MRS. LAUF:

    • Our Move A Thon wll be Thursday, September 26th.  This event supports our PE program while bringing health awareness and education to our students.  Funds raised this year will be used to pay the salary for our PE Aide, purchase new equipment for PE, and purchase recess equipment.  A pledge form is attached to this PawPrints in the Hunsberger Resources section at the end of this newsletter.  Thank you for your support!
    • I continue with my Hunsberger Heroes Principal Fundraiser.  This fundraiser is separate from our PTO events and funds.  I commit yearly to enhance student learning by subsidizing the hours of our computer assistant, providing positive incentives for students, keeping technology updated, and purchasing supplemental curriculum materials.  You can be part of this fundraising effort any time during the 2019-2020 school year.  A flyer is attached to the PawPrints in the Hunsberger Resources section.  Thank you to all the families who have already donated, those families will be recognized in our next issue of PawPrints.  Thank you for your support!!!

    COUNSELOR'S CORNER:

WELCOME BACK FAMILIES!  We will be testing all 2nd and 5th grade students for the Gifted and Talented Program at the end of September.  The test used to screen students is the NNAT(Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test).  This screener is a nonverbal test that utilizes shapes and figures to evaluate problem-solving and reasoning abilities of a child without relying on their lanuage skills.  An Opt-Out letter went home for all 2nd and 5th graders.  Current GT students will NOT test.  If your child qualifies, the GT department should contact you a few weeks after testing.

    Your School Counselor,

    Mrs. Eftimoff

    HUSKY ARTS:

Husky Arts is preparing to participate in the International Dot Day celebrations which will occur on Friday, September 13th.  Collaborative pieces of art will be created throughout the day as well as highlighting "the dot" in classroom activities, specials, and recess.  Students are encouraged to don polka dot attire in celebration of the festivities at school.  We look forward to having a "dotty" day!

    Happy Creativity!

    Victoria Kaspar and Morgan Fritz
