Dear Hunsberger Families,
It has been a wonderful year here at Hunsberger. I have enjoyed spending time with your children and watching them learn and grow. All classes received at least 6 guidance lessons on topics such as empathy, making friends, handling conflict, being responsible, feelings, safety, growth mindset, perseverance, bullying, study skills, and respect. In addition, I held 8 small groups working on kindness, emotions, divorce issues, friendships, anxiety and self-esteem. Your children continue to amaze me every day, showing kindness and caring for others.
Once again, we will take all our fifth graders on a walk over to Marce Herz Middle School this week. They will get the grand tour of the building, meet teachers and students, learn about academic, sports and extracurricular activities. We will also be able to enjoy lunch in the cafeteria and social time, soaking up the sun in the outdoor quad area.
Your fifth graders will be missed here at Hunsberger, but it's time for them to go on to the next chapter of their lives! Congrats to all you 5th grade parents!
Have a fantastic summer.
Your school counselor,
Mrs. Lou Eftimoff
The Hunsberger Morning Choir concluded the year with their Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 9th. Fifth grade choir members should continue to come to choir rehearsals on Wednesday mornings through June 7th, in preparation for the 5th grade ceremony on June 14th. A huge thank you to all choir parents for your support of the choir this year!
Morning choir will resume in the fall for 4th and 5th grade students. Start date TBD.
Final music performance for the school year:
Kindergarten Music Performance-Tuesday, June 13th at 2:15 pm
Please always feel free to contact Ms. Thompson if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's music education: firstname.lastname@example.org
Only a few weeks left of the school year and students will be completing their final art lessons. Many will be creating artwork on the canvases we purchased for every student along with the classroom set of easels, thanks to the success of our T-shirt fundraiser.
Your student will also be bringing home their art portfolio. We urge you to take some time to go through the portfolio with them and discuss their artwork. Consider having a mini art show by hanging their pieces on your wall for a week , or gift to a family member or friend, if your child agrees. You're looking at a year's worth of love, hard work, and self-expression. Please help reinforce that everyone's an artist, because that's a founding element of our Husky Arts Program.
