STATE TESTING (GRADES 3-5 ONLY):
Students in grades 3-5 will begin their annual state assessments this spring. Third and fourth graders will take English Language Arts and Mathematics tests, which include both multiple-choice and written response sections, on computers. Fifth graders will take the same assessments, with the addition of a Science test.
The Science test will begin the week of March 10th, before spring break. We have carefully structured the testing schedule to balance testing days and durations, ensuring that students do not feel overwhelmed or rushed. Testing for grades 3-5 will continue through the first week of May, allowing students ample time to complete each assessment with breaks in between.
Please find attached the current schedule for state testing. Schedule of State Testing
MUSIC PERFORMANCES:
We are excited to announce a new schedule for our student music programs, which will now take place from 2:30-3:30 pm. I understand this is a change from previous years, but it allows us to better support all students in showcasing their musical talents. It will also help us accommodate families more conveniently while ensuring students have ample time to prepare and perform. We are confident that this adjustment will create a more inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility with this change. Please see the Music Program dates below:
Music Schedule for 24-25 School Year
5/1 2nd Grade, 2:30-3:30 pm
5/8 Morning Choir, 2:30-3:30 pm
5/19 1st Grade, 2:30-3:30 pm
6/2 Kindergarten, 2:30-3:30 pm
HUNSBERGER HEROES:
We are continuing our long-standing tradition of Hunsberger Heroes. Becoming a Hunsberger Hero is easy. There are no cookies, wrapping paper or coupon books to sell. Families simply make a monetary contribution to the school, all of which directly supplement the cost of technology maintenance, supplemental texts, intervention support, student recognition, social/emotional learning, and much more (up to 10% of funds received may be used for staff recognition). All contributions are tax-deductible (Federal Tax ID #88-6000-919). So, join us in this “no-fundraiser-fundraiser" by sending your check to the school or in the mail (2505 Crossbow Ct. Reno, NV 89511).
We greatly appreciate your support!

COUNSELOR CORNER:
Hello Husky Families,
I hope you all have a wonderful spring break! When your children return to school, we have a couple of programs scheduled through the counseling department.
In April, our Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade students will have the Better Safe than Sorry program/video. Fifth grade will get this program in May. This program teaches students about children’s rights, safety around strangers, and inappropriate touches, as well as who to go to if they need help. A passive permission form will be sent home. Please only return it if you choose NOT to have your child participate.
Also in April, the Child Assault Prevention team will provide a one-hour lesson to all 2nd and 4th grade students. This program is very similar, empowering children to know their rights, stand up to bullying, and understand abuse and unsafe touches. You will also receive a passive permission form closer to the lesson date.
Enjoy your time with your children over break and we will see you in April!
Your counselor, Mrs. Eftimoff

Happy March! This month our students continue to learn about various elements of art. First grade is participating in our Photography Unit while our 3rd grade students will be making clay Pinch Pot Cupcakes. The rest of the grades will be exploring either texture or value in art.
We started the main hallway art installation inspired by Principal Dawson's SEL theme of "Here We Grow". Every student will write what they are most proud of from the first half of the school year and a goal for the second half of the year on a paper seed. Students drop their "seed" into a pot made by volunteer and artist Megan Woods, and they will come back from Spring Break to see what happens!
Fine Arts Night is Tuesday, May 20th, from 5:30-7:30 pm at Hunsberger. Admission is free and we will add a Glow Room this year! Excited to see you all at this event! Thanks for your continued support of the Husky Arts Program!
