    MOVE A THON:

The Move A Thon will be held on Thursday, October 3rd.  Our fundraising goal is $30,000!  Donations raised are used not only to keep our PE Program alive, but also to support art, technology and to pay for much needed supplies throughout the year.

The following link will take you to our fundraising website:  https://app.99pledges.com/fund/huskymoveathon

    To volunteer visit:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4DA9A82AA5FFCF8-50748536-husky#/

We understand this can be a financially difficult time if you were affected by the Davis Fire.  Any contribution is helpful as WCSD does not fund our PE Program, you do!

FALL CONFERENCE WEEK AND SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

Fall Conferences will start on Friday, October 18th and continue October 21st through the 24th.  Students will be dismissed at 1:20 pm each day during conferences.  Please contact your students' teacher to schedule your conference.  During the same time frame, our Scholastic Book Fair will be held in our school library.  More information will come home with your student this week.  Hours for the Book Fair will be 8:30 am -4:30 pm.

    MUSIC PERFORMANCES:

We are excited to announce a new schedule for our student music programs, which will now take place from 2:30-3:30 pm.  I understand this is a change from previous years, but it allows us to better support all students in showcasing their musical talents.  It will also help us accommodate families more conveniently while ensuring students have ample time to prepare and perform.  We are confident that this adjustment will create a more inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility with this change.  Please see the Music Program dates below:

    HUNSBERGER HEROES:

We are continuing our long-standing tradition of Hunsberger Heroes. Becoming a Hunsberger Hero is easy. There are no cookies, wrapping paper or coupon books to sell. Families simply make a monetary contribution to the school, all of which directly supplements the cost of technology maintenance, supplemental texts, intervention support, student recognition, social/emotional learning, and much more (up to 10% of funds received may be used for staff recognition).  All contributions are tax-deductible (Federal Tax ID #88-6000-919).  So, join us in this “no-fundraiser-fundraiser" by sending your check to the school or in the mail (2505 Crossbow Ct. Reno, NV 89511).

    We greatly appreciate your support!

    COUNSELOR CORNER:

    Hello Husky Families,

We are seeing quite a few absences from students, and we are only 7 weeks into the school year. This is extremely detrimental to our children. Even in elementary school, where the ‘basics’ are taught – missing instruction can cause struggles for our kids as they move up in grades. Of course, children get sick, or emergency situations arise, but please look at setting doctor appointments, vacations, and other activities, outside of school hours.

In addition, this can create more work for our teachers, as they are moving on with the curriculum, but now must compile missed assignments and grade them after the due dates. Teachers are also not able to ‘reteach’ what a child has missed, so parents may have to do this. Please be aware too, coming in tardy (after the 9:30 bell) is disruptive to the class and can even be embarrassing for the student. Again, we understand circumstances beyond your control, but we so appreciate your efforts to get to school on time.

    Thank you

    Your counselor, Mrs. Eftimoff
