Hello Husky Families! My name is Jaime Bowers, and I am excited to be your new Interim Principal at Hunsberger for the remainder of this semester. I am already experiencing the positive and passionate culture at Hunsberger and look forward to serving your teachers and children. It is clear to me that this community rallies around their schools and play a huge part in their children's education, making our neck of the woods quite impressive. I am fortunate to have this opportunity.

Thank you for raising such mindful and hardworking little learners! I look forward to working with you on behalf of your child or children.

    With gratitude,

    Interim Principal Bowers

It's that time of year again for Operation School Bell. The Assistance League of Reno-Sparks has allocated five spots for Hunsberger students in need of new clothing.  Shopping will be done at the Damonte Walmart on October 14th. Each child can spend up to $100 on new clothes.

Our past participants have felt so happy and proud to show off their new jeans, tops, shoes, and jackets. If you are struggling to cover the cost of clothing for your child, please contact me by September 30th. Please email eeftimoff@washoeschools.net or call 851-7095 and ask for Mrs. Eftimoff.  It's going to be a great year here at Hunsberger!

    Art Update

Husky Arts is a curriculum based art program funded by the PTO and led by parent volunteers. For the month of September, students celebrated International Dot Day and created art inspired by the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. They also learned about the element of line in art. For October, K-3rd will learn about the element of shape.  Fourth grade will have their photography unit, and 5th grade will learn about form in art as they work with clay and create a special project to bring home.

Save the Date for Hunsberger’s Scholastic Book Fair!

The main fundraiser for our school library will be a hybrid Scholastic Book Fair for 2021. The book fair is a favorite for our students, and they are already asking when it will arrive! This year’s fair will be held in person in Hunsberger’s library from Monday, October 18, 2021 through Friday, October 22, 2021. Students will be able to shop alongside their classmates during pre-scheduled days and times.

Families and friends are invited to shop at the online fair which will run at the same time as the in person fair and then extends until October 31, 2021.  A link will be sent out as the event approaches.

Please feel free to contact Lisa Schoenfeld at lschoenfeld@washoeschools.net with any questions.
