Letter from Our Principal

  • Dear Verdi Families,

     It is with much enthusiasm and excitement that I welcome you to Verdi Elementary School. I am honored to work with a staff that is dedicated to tenaciously provide a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment, in which each child will feel valued and encouraged to meet or exceed their potential.  We look forward, with parental support and participation to a full and rewarding year. Thank you for entrusting your child’s education to us and allowing us the crucial opportunity to help your child achieve academically and socially this year.

     It is our goal to create an enriching learning environment that engages the students.  The staff understands that every student has different learning styles and needs.  For that reason, we will provide a learning environment that is positive, respectful, challenging, supportive, and one that will provide every child the opportunity to succeed.  My Team will encourage each student to work to his/her full potential.

     As a parent, you are a very important part of the educational process. In addition to the assistance and nurturing you give to your child, you can participate in upgrading the quality of education within Verdi Elementary. Your efforts will help in your child’s success in school. You may want to get involved by:

                Reviewing your child’s homework and test results;
                Supporting and reinforcing your child’s good study habits;
                Becoming a member of the Parent Facility Association PFA;
                Making sure your child is prepared and attends school each day;
                Coming to parent-teacher conferences.

     Parent interaction is an imperative part of your child’s education.  Research confirms that parental interest and involvement in a child’s education is the most significant reason children succeed in school.  I encourage you to be as involved with the school as practical.  You’re invited to join the PFA, which meets monthly, and is a productive way to support and help shape the school environment.  Throughout the year, we host various events.

     Enclosed with this letter is an updated handbook to provide you with an overview of the procedure established at Verdi Elementary.  Safety of the students is a major concern of mine.  Various policies are implemented to ensure the safety of all students.  Please be sure you read the handbook with your child so that you and your child will have a better understand of Verdi Elementary expectations.

     On behalf of the staff at Verdi Elementary School we thank you for your support and cooperation.  We hope you have a wonderful 2019-2020 school year.  The staff and I look forward to working with you and your child.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or visit.
