Motivated by the belief in the value of education in a diverse culture, the Mission Statement of Katherine Dunn Elementary School is to develop proficient readers, writers, and problems solvers who practice divergent thinking.
Dear Families and Students,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Katherine Dunn Elementary School, home of the Cougars. My name is Allison Fannin, your principal. I am truly excited to share this upcoming school year with you and your child. I have an open door policy and would love the opportunity to meet you if I haven’t already! Building a strong home-school partnership is important and vital to a child’s successful educational experience.
I have enjoyed working as an educator in Washoe County and believe in our school’s mission statement of developing proficient readers, writers, and problem solvers who practice divergent thinking. I believe that all students can learn, given a positive inclusive atmosphere which enhances student confidence. It is my philosophy that school should be enjoyable and exciting – if students look forward to attending school, they will want to learn.
I am excited to work with you this year and watch your child develop new talents, skills, and abilities. I am convinced that you as parents, are the most important part of your child’s educational and emotional development. Together we can make learning a positive experience! Please feel free to contact me at any time.
This will be an AMAZING year!!
