    Dear Families and Students,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Katherine Dunn Elementary School, home of the Cougars. My name is Allison Fannin and I will be your new principal for the 2017-2018 school year.  I am truly excited to join the Dunn family and share this upcoming school year with you and your child.  I would love the opportunity to meet you, so please feel free to stop by the front office to introduce yourself.  Building a strong home-school partnership is important and vital to a child’s successful educational experience.

I have enjoyed working as an educator in Washoe County for the last 16 years and believe in our school’s mission statement of developing proficient readers, writers, and problem solvers who practice divergent thinking.  I believe that all students can learn, given a positive inclusive atmosphere which enhances student confidence.  It is my philosophy that school should be enjoyable and exciting – if students look forward to attending school, they will want to learn.

I am excited to work with you this year and watch your child develop new talents, skills, and abilities.  I am convinced that you as parents, are the most important part of your child’s educational and emotional development.  Together we can make learning a positive experience!  Please feel free to contact me at any time.

This will be an AMAZING year!!
