Drop-off procedures:A designated unloading zone will be marked with orange cones at the far north end of the drop zone.
Students will remain in their cars until they have moved into the unloading zone. Parents are not allowed to unload their kids in the areas leading up to the unloading zone. They must wait in the queue until it's their turn.
Once in the unloading zone, students are allowed to exit their vehicles quickly so please have your children ready to go.
Parents should not get out of their car in the drop area. If you need extra time to help your child get out or prepare to exit, please park in the parking lot and walk your child in.Another alternative is to drop your children off along the right side of the road on Sommerville Way which is the street right above the staff parking lot. While this may not be suitable for our younger students, our older children are able to walk along the sidewalk on their own with all of the other walking students in the neighborhood.
Please remember as well, students should never be dropped off in the parking lot as this is an extreme safety issue. When so many parents are lined up around the parking area, staff that arrive are not able to park and get into school and your child runs the risk of not being seen by cars coming and going.
Please remember:The first bell rings at 8:55 AM and class begins promptly at 9:00 AM. Please ensure your children are dropped off with plenty of time to be on time. Our playground opens at 8:40 each morning.
Visitors and VolunteersFor the safety of our children it is imperative that the school keeps a record of who is on campus at all times. All school visitors must report to the office and sign in as a visitor or volunteer and wear a nametag that identifies them when visiting the campus. This allows all staff, students, parents, and families the assurance that the school campus is a safe and protected environment for all who enter.
