Westergard Elementary School is located in northwest Reno and serves students between Kindergarten and 5th grade. School begins at 8:55 am and the tardy bell rings at 9 am. Students are dismissed at 3:00 pm. On Wednesdays, students are dismissed at 2:15 pm.
We promote social-emotional learning and positive behavior discipline within all classroom settings. In addition, to ensure that all students have the right to learn in a safe environment, the teachers and staff at Westergard Elementary School are committed to uphold and enforce the following behavioral expectations at all times: PAWS, Positive attitude, Accountable by acting responsibly and respectfully, Wise choices, Stay safe.
Our mascot is the Wildcat.
George Westergard dedicated 30 years of service to education both in Washoe and Lyon County as a teacher and principal. Upon his retirement, Mr. Westergard remained active in education at both a local and state level. George Westergard Elementary School opened in 1989.
