    Dear Families of DDES,

Welcome to a new school year and I am looking forward to many of our families returning August 7th. We will open the playground gates at 8:30, and look for teachers to be near their line up areas at 8:45. Teachers will be holding large signs with their names to help families identify their child’s line. The parking lot is always full on the first day, and I suggest walking or riding a bike if you live nearby. Please review some of the notes below, and be sure to stop by or call the office with any further questions.

    • Purple, blue and yellow tracks begin August 7th for 1st-5th grades.
    • Kindergarten will be meeting with teachers during the first week, please contact the office if you need to schedule an appointment. Kindergarten class begins Monday, August 14th.
    • Green track students will begin September 5th, with Kindergarten classes beginning September 11th.
    • School hours this year have adjusted to the following:
      • 8:25-8:55             breakfast
      • 8:40                      playground opens with teacher supervision
      • 8:55                      bell rings
      • 9:00                      tardy bell rings
      • 3:30                      dismissal
    • For the morning drop off, please stay to the far right and drive around the parking lot to the drop off area. Please do not park in this lane.
    • During the afternoon pick-up, please either park, or stay to the far right lane and continue moving forward until you are able to arrive at the same curb area as drop off. Please do not park or leave your car in this continually moving lane.

    See you soon!

  • Code red drill, tomorrow morning

Posted by Mike Dixon at 10/9/2017 1:00:00 PM

Tomorrow morning at 9:30, we will be practicing a code red lock down drill. A code red lock down is used when we are concerned there is an immediate threat to student safety.   During the drill, all class doors will be locked, windows covered, and lights turned off while the students sit quietly in a safe area of the room. Classrooms remain in this state until further information is communicated.   Tomorrow is only a drill, and if your students come home with questions please feel free to share with them that we practice being safe in case of an emergency. If you have any questions, please contact myself or Assistant Principal Teri Salgado.
