Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year. 

 

Dear Grizzly Families,

Welcome back to another wonderful year at Dodson Elementary! I hope everyone enjoyed their summer break. I wanted to take a moment to share some information to kick off the school year.    

School Information:

• You will be able to see your child’s progress by logging on to Infinite Campus.

• Students will be provided with basic school supplies.

• Please send your child to school with a

  • Backpack

  • Water bottle

• The first bell for the start of school rings at 8:55 (The tardy bell rings at 9:00)

• School ends at 3:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

• School ends at 2:15 on Wednesdays.

• Students are provided FREE breakfast and lunch.

Arrival Procedures:

To ensure the safety of our students, the parking lot is closed to through traffic.  Students can be dropped off at Caballo by the big gate by the blacktop. The gates to the playground will be unlocked at 8:55 am each day. Duty teachers will be out at 8:55 each day. To ensure the safety of all students, parents are not permitted in the playground unless they have a volunteer form on file in the office. Students will be served breakfast in their classrooms. The bell rings at 9:00.  The tardy bell will ring at 9:00a.m.

Dismissal:

Teachers will walk their students to the gates on Caballo. Students should determine a meeting spot for younger siblings. 

Students that are walking will head directly home. 

Students being picked up will wait in front and on the side streets of Dodson.

Safety Drills:

As part of the WCSD requirement, students and staff participate in monthly drills. Each month, we will conduct a fire drill. We will also conduct an Earthquake Drill in October, as well as several Code Yellow and Code Red Drills.

Dodson Website:

The Dodson website will be updated throughout the year. There is a great deal of information about the school, the staff directory, and school and district information. Please visit it regularly for up-to-date information. 

Approved Snacks and Celebratory Treats:

Dodson is allocated one day per month where celebration treats are allowed. Please refer to our school calendar for those dates. Your child's teacher will inform you of the second date each month that you may bring treats. Families must communicate with the teacher about treats beforehand. Please be mindful of students with allergies and communicate with the teacher. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Volunteers:

Parents and guardians are welcome to fill out an updated Volunteer Form. This must be done every school year if you would like to volunteer in the classroom, school, or field trips.
