Northern Nevada Literacy Council

Northern Nevada Literacy Council’s mission is to help low-income, low-literacy adult learners achieve their literacy and educational goals while reinforcing beneficial family literacy behaviors in the home. NNLC offers classes preparing adult learners ages 16 and older to sit for the High School Equivalency (HSE) exam. NNLC offers classes to improve English literacy (speaking, reading and writing) for English Language learners. NNLC also offers Citizenship classes in preparation for the naturalization exam and interview. Adults also learn how to support their children’s reading development through the parent/child Family Reading Program, which gives parents concrete techniques for building children’s literacy.
