Dear DDES Families,

This winter, we will begin the process of transitioning to the multi-track-year-round (MTYR) calendar for the 2017-2018 school year. While on a MTYR schedule, the school functions with a system of four separate calendars. Three calendars (or tracks) are on campus, while one track is always on vacation. Through this rotating schedule, roughly 25% of the student population is on vacation. Each of our families will be assigned a track through a random draw process which will take place on January 25, 2017.  My hope is that this note can provide a basic over-view to the process as we have some important dates nearing. 

  1.  On December 5th, enrollment for the 17-18 school year will open. Every family will need to enroll their student(s) using the Infinite Campus, Parent Portal tool.   If you are enrolling a kindergarten student, you will also need to complete the enrollment process in the front office by bringing in: original birth certificate, immunization records, and a proof of residency. This process needs to be completed by January 14, 2017 in order to participate in the random draw event
  2. Once the enrollment process is completed, your family will receive a survey link through the email that is listed in your Parent Portal account. By following the link, you will complete a survey to preference the four available track options. In short, your family will need to review the four available calendars (tracks) and then rank your preferences as: first, second, third, and fourth choice. On January 25th, a random draw will occur to place families on these tracks, based on their completed preference form. Families will then be notified of the track your family was placed on (siblings will be assigned to the same track).

  3. On December 8th, I will be hosting a Kindergarten informational meeting in our multi-purpose room at 6:00pm. Please join us if you have an incoming Kindergarten student as we can answer questions and help with the enrollment process that evening, including the paper verifications.

 Our office is prepared to answer questions and assist families through this process. Please feel free to stop-by at any time, and computers are also available to complete the enrollment process. It is our goal that 100% of our families will complete this process therefore be able to participate in the random draw event.

Notes to Families:
 
If your student will be riding the bus, please have them go to the bus stop and the driver will provide you with the appropriate paperwork
  • If you are dropping off, or picking up your student by vehicle, please stay to the far right when entering the parking lot and remain in your vehicle.  The right lane will continually move as students are unloaded/loaded on the sidewalk area.  Kindergarten parents also use this process and do not enter the parking lot near the Kinder playground.   We appreciate your patience and kindness.



  • Multi track, random draw event postponed

    Good Evening,

    Due to the wild schedule we had last week from the weather, we will be postponing the random draw event to February 1st, at 6:00 pm.  Please be sure to complete the track preference form either online, or by paper in the office.

  • What time does school start with a 2 hour delay?

    Hello,

    On days that we have a two hour delay, due to weather, classes begin at 11:35.  Please do not drop students off prior to 11:15.  Also, on these days there is no before school program, nor breakfast.

    DDES Families: The deadline to complete the track preference form for next school year is nearing. An email has been sent several times with an online survey. At this time, if you have not received the emails, please contact our office for a paper version. Stay warm! Mr. D.

  • Enrollment for next school year is now open

    This morning, enrollment has opened for the upcoming school year.  Please complete the process within the Parent Portal program.  Once the enrollment has been verified, you will receive an email with a link to a survey to complete the multi-track year round preference form.  If you have any questions, please come by the office or give us a call at 850-6212.

  • December 14th, Multli-Cultural Night, 6:00 - 7:30

    Hello Students and Families of Double Diamond Elementary,

    Please join us on Wednesday, December 14th in the multi-purpose room for our Multi-Cultural Night titled: Desserts From Around the World.  Students will be working with their families to make a poster about their heritage while interested families can participate by bringing in a dessert to share.  Flyers will be sent home on Wednesday, November 30th with more information.  Here is a copy:

  • Multi Track Year Round updates

    Hello,

    DDES will be transitioning to a multi-track year round schedule, for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.  The first step in this process, is for all families that will be attending to register their students within the Infinite Campus, Parent Portal.  The online registration will begin December 5th, and be available through mid-January.  After families have completed the registration process, an email will be sent with a link.  By following the link, families will complete an online survey that preferences the available four tracks.  Meaning, your family will choose which track (or schedule for the year) is your #1 choice, through #4 choice (tracks are represented by four different colors on the multi track calendar).   Currently, the night of January 25th is scheduled to complete the random draw process which will place families on their tracks, through a random process similar to a lottery.  I will be sending home more information with specific instructions, and as always, the front office staff and administration are here to answer any questions.  Please scroll to the bottom of this webpage for a link to the upcoming school calendars which includes the multi-track year round calendar.
