Old Stead Elementary School Reuse Evaluation Process

Stead Elementary School has recently moved to a new location, but the Washoe County School District (WCSD) still owns the retired Stead Elementary School building lot located on 10580 Stead Blvd. in Reno.

Since the District does not currently plan to use this retired school property for any immediate school or District use, we are now exploring what it could become in the future. Options may include selling or leasing the property to fund new schools or school improvements, or partnering with local government agencies or community organizations to address community needs.

June 23, 2026 - WCSD Board of Trustees approved the recommendation to proceed with the external reuse evaluation process for old Stead Elementary School in accordance with Board Policy 7086, the Reuse & Disposition Framework for Closed Schools, and applicable Nevada Revised Statutes.
