Virginia Palmer Elementary School modernization project approved

Washoe County School District continues 2023 Facility Modernization Plan (FMP) work at Palmer Elementary School.

Virginia Palmer Elementary School was built in the 1980’s and was identified in the 2023 FMP as a pilot school for the district’s “Pod-style” elementary school prototype. This modernization and expansion work will be completed while classes are underway, and the school site is fully operational.

Highlights:

• One of the first 2023 FMP projects to be approved.
• "Pod-style” elementary school prototype designated for future projects.
• State-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces include a collaborative hub space, a STEAM Lab, shaded outdoor areas, a media center, and maintenance upgrades.  
• Design work began in 2025, and construction work is expected to begin in spring 2026.
• The anticipated completion date is scheduled for summer 2026.
