Project to rebuild Vaughn Middle School started in June 2024. 

Clark/Sullivan Construction started setting up for the construction project to rebuild E. Otis Vaughn Middles School in June 2024.  The new school was built while the existing school continued operation. We proudly opened the brand-new, 3-story Vaughn Middle School in August 2026. Work at this site continues as we are demolishing the old school and building new athletic fields. Final completion is scheduled for August 2027. 

Highlights:

• A brand-new 3-story school building located on the school's athletic fields. 
• State-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces include 52 teaching stations, a new Family Resource Center, a student collaborative hub, a media center, and a gymnasium. 
• Active construction site while Vaughn Middle School continues operation throughout the building process. 
• Construction began in June 2024.
• The new school has a scheduled completion date of August 2026. 
• The full project has a scheduled completion date of August 2027, which includes demolition of the current school building and construction of new athletic fields in that location.

Washoe County School District hosted a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the opening of the new School on August 6, 2026.
