Modernization project at Transportation yard on Kleppe Lane is underway

The Central Transportation Yard was identified for a significant modernization project based on the 2020 Transportation Master Plan study, due to inadequate parking for staff and buses, nonfunctional training and workspace, flooding at site, non-working fuel monitoring system, non-environmentally friendly underground fuel tanks, and safety and security issues.

Highlights:

• The project will be constructed using a phased approach to allow operations to continue during construction.
• Build one new building which combines maintenance shops, office space, training areas, etc., for efficiency. 
• New school bus parking area with enhanced security and infrastructure for future EV charging.
• Construction started in early 2025.
• The new office and shop is scheduled for completion in Spring 2026.
• The final phase for bus parking is scheduled for completion in October 2026.
