School Naming Committee
School Naming Committee
School names are selected by the Board of Trustees after a community engagement process. For each new school, the public has the opportunity to nominate names of individuals or geographic locations. The School Naming Committee narrows down the nominated names to a short list of no more than 10 names during a public meeting, which are then provided to the community for a vote. Any names that were previous finalists are also added to the short list. The Committee then takes the community vote into consideration at another public meeting and selects its top three names to forward to the Board of Trustees. The Trustees ultimately pick the final name in an open, public meeting.
