What We Have Done

Washoe County School District (WCSD) in partnership with CannonDesign conducted an 18-month long Facility Modernization Plan (FMP) study. This work included study and analysis as well as community engagement opportunities.  On December 12, 2023, the WCSD Board of Trustees approved the final district-wide FMP and the implementation of this plan.

The FMP work and study involved the following engagement and activities:

• • Stakeholder Advisory Group meetings
  • District Planning Group meetings
  • Community meetings including community wide forums, regional conversations, virtual meetings, meetings solely in Spanish, and live polling at events
  • Facility tours and data analysis
  • Student enrollment and demographics review
  • Surveys – two community wide online surveys in English and Spanish
  • WCSD Student Advisory Council meetings
  • Needs Assessment Focus Group meetings
  • WCSD bargaining unit meetings
  • Local industry organizations meetings
  • Local media briefings
