Mrs. Porter's Class Information
Hello, my amazing students! Oh, my gosh...I have missed you so much!!! Now I know, more than ever, why I chose to teach for a living. It's you guys!!! I truly miss seeing your sweet smiles, and I can't wait to see you again!
We are experiencing some crazy times here, and we just need to keep our chin up and stay focused, healthy, and sane.
Sooooo, you probably have figured out that technology is not one of my strong suits. That being said, I tried messing with Microsoft Teams for the first time yesterday with my Science Gurus. It was pretty comical, but I did get my feet wet. The plan is that I will try to mainly keep in contact with you all via this website, but I need to know that you are checking it and following what we are doing. Therefore, we need to check in using Teams so that I can make sure that I have heard from every one of my beautiful students and know that they are okay. Our times for meeting with our Science students are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-10 A.M. I am going to designate our Biology class meetings on Teams for Tuesday mornings and our Anatomy and Physiology meetings on Teams for Thursday mornings. Please see the following breakdown:
1st period: 9:30-10:00 (Tuesdays)
3rd period: 8:30-9:00 (Tuesdays)
5th period: 9:00-9:30 (Tuesdays)
6th period: 9:00-9:30 (Thursdays)
7th period: 9:30-10:00 (Thursdays)
These meeting times will be our chance to connect with what assignments we will work on and in what direction we are going. This will be your chance to contact me with questions or clarification on the material that we will cover or anything else that you need from me. I will still be checking my e-mails as well if you need to contact me.
So, the plan is to get started with your digital learning tomorrow! Yee hoo! I have decided to have you all do the lessons that the district has assigned for Biology classes for the first two weeks. The first assignments are on the very relevant Corona virus (studying the immune system), and the next assignments are on skin which will be a review for Anatomy. If our time is extended with distance learning, I have some ideas for more information to dive into. We will discuss this further, and I will answer your questions when we meet THIS WEEK starting Thursday for our first Teams meetings. If you have any questions for now, please e-mail me.
That's it! Take a breath and relax, these assignments will not be difficult--they are mostly based on us reviewing, learning together, and relying on eachother during this difficult time. I wish you the best, and I look forward to seeing you happy and healthy soon.
Mrs. P :)
