WCSD Celebrates Educator Appreciation Week
“You Make a Difference” is theme for 2024 Events

Reno, NV (May 6, 2024) -- The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is celebrating the lasting and far-reaching contributions of educators during Educator Appreciation Week from May 6 through May 10. The annual event encourages the community to acknowledge and thank educators whose work supports learning for students of all ages and abilities and provides them with the knowledge they need to identify their talents and achieve their goals. 

Our dedicated WCSD staff members work hard each and every day to make a difference in our students’ lives, and the theme for this year’s celebration is “You Make a Difference.”

“Our educators—all of our staff members who work to support our students in their learning—make a potentially life-changing difference for our students every day,” said WCSD Interim Superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill. “They encourage children to explore their talents, abilities, and the world around them, and they teach students to embrace a love of learning that will serve them for the rest of their lives. Our educators are at the heart of everything we do as a school district, and we rely on them for so much, just as our students and families do. We are all grateful to them for sharing their talents with us.”

There is a variety of celebrations for educators taking place this week: 

• Raffle prizes and discounts from generous vendors in our community
• Food truck celebrations
• Special deliveries from district leadership
• Celebration signs
