WCSD Seeks Applicants for Safe and Healthy Schools Commission
Reno, NV. (September 15, 2021) – The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is seeking applications for three positions on the Safe and Healthy Schools Commission.
The Commission assists the WCSD Board of Trustees on issues related to the safety and security of schools which may include prevention/intervention, mitigation, preparedness, emergency response, and recovery. The group meets on the second Monday of each month at 2 p.m. during the school year, and meetings are held at the Administration Building on Ninth Street in Reno.
The Commission is seeking three members as follows:
- Emergency Services Representative (a person who works in the field of emergency services or as a first responder – this term expires 6/30/22)
- At-Large Member (term expires 6/30/22)
- At-Large Member (term expires 6/30/23)
The Board of Trustees supports the use of committees to advise the Board and provide a variety of perspectives regarding educational programs, safety, operations, financial reporting, maintenance, and support services. The work of committees helps ensure programs and other services are relevant to address current standards; meet the needs of students and families; and provide appropriate resources to support high quality student outcomes.
To apply, please submit an online application here: https://www.wcsdpolicy.net/pdf_files/forms/9105-AF-Committee_App-v5.pdf
Once applications are received, individuals who meet the requirements will be contacted for next steps in the process. Ultimately, the Board of Trustees or superintendent – as applicable to the committee – gives final approval to appointments.
