Education Alliance of Washoe County Postpones
Run for Education and Hosts an
Evening of Healing through Health
Reno, NV (August 17, 2021) – Education Alliance of Washoe County looks forward to hosting the Run for Education in 2022; the 2021 event will not take place this year.
The annual Run for Education attracts a crowd of approximately 8,000 attendees at SCHEELS/Outlets at Legends each October to raise funding for physical education and nutrition programs in the Washoe County School District (WCSD).
“The Run for Education is all about student health and wellness,” said Kendall Inskip, Executive Director of Education Alliance of Washoe County. “After many discussions with school principals and school counselors, it became evident this school year will center around getting students reacclimated to full-time, in-person learning and caring for their social, emotional, and mental wellness in addition to their physical and nutritional health.”
This year, Education Alliance is expanding fundraising efforts for physical and nutritional health to include support for social, emotional, and mental health resources for WCSD students with the Healing through Health initiative.
Education Alliance will host a Healing through Health kick-off event at the new Sparks Water Bar on the Marina, Thursday, August 26th at 6 pm. Tickets can be purchased for $100 each at www.ed-alliance.org.
“The brand-new Sparks Water Bar has opened its doors to show their support for our students and our community,” said Dave Bianchi, Education Alliance Event Chair and Past President. “It’s like our own little piece of Tahoe right here in Sparks.” Sparks Water Bar is from the owner of Gar Woods Tahoe, Riva Grill, Caliente, and Bar of America in Truckee.
Proceeds will benefit WCSD students to help schools meet their specific physical, nutritional, and mental health needs to help them recover from the effects of the past 17 months of isolation and inactivity.
