WCSD Receives Recognition for
Achievement in Procurement
Reno, NV (November 18, 2020) – For the 19th consecutive year, the Washoe County School District (WCSD) procurement team has won an award for excellence from the National Procurement Institute (NPI), Inc. This is the 23rd time the District has received the Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award, which honors innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership attributes.
WCSD is one of just four agencies in Nevada and one of only 22 school districts in the United States and Canada to receive the award this year.
“Our procurement team plays a critical role in supporting our district’s educational mission to prepare our 62,000 students for the 21st century,” said WCSD Chief Financial Officer Mark Mathers. “They work hard to obtain the services, supplies, and equipment we need every day while ensuring that the District is using taxpayer dollars efficiently. We have met and exceeded these standards for more than two decades, and I am proud of our team.”
WCSD’s Department of Procurement & Contracts is charged with using District funds in the most economical and effective manner possible to purchase quality supplies, equipment, and services. The team also is responsible for bidding all the District’s capital projects, including the new schools, safety improvements, and school renovations and repairs made possible by the passage of WC-1 four years ago.
“Our team is dedicated to supporting our students, staff, and our educational mission, and we are grateful to receive this award once again.” said Andrea Sullivan, director of Procurement & Contracts for WCSD. “We are proud to work on their behalf, and we are celebrating this national honor.”
