WCSD Provides Supports, Resources to Families
Via F.A.S.T. Webinars
Reno, NV (Sept. 16, 2018) – The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is hosting a Families and Staff Together 4 Kids (F.A.S.T.) webinar on Wednesday, September 16 entitled “Main Technology Learning Supports and How to Utilize Them.” This is the latest in a series of webinars where families are invited to learn about resources available to help support student learning including Bridges Math, envision Math, Infinite Campus, and Microsoft Teams.
Presenters will also discuss English Language Arts (ELA) Supports (Benchmark, Clever, MyOn). Secondary level families will learn about Edgenuity.
F.A.S.T. webinars are organized and hosted by the WCSD Department of Family-School Partnerships and are held monthly.
“Communicating with our families and providing information they can use to support their students is an essential part of our educational mission,” said WCSD Superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill. “Now that many of our students are enrolled in distance learning or are learning at home on the hybrid schedule, it’s even more important that we reach out to our families with support, information, and answers to their questions. I am grateful to our staff members in the Department of Family-School Partnerships who have worked hard to organize these webinars, and I encourage all of our families to attend.”
“We are here to support our parents and students as they navigate this new way of learning, and we are encouraged by the number of families who have attended to learn more,” said Maria Fernandez, coordinator for WCSD Parent University. “We are providing information we hope will be useful for our families, and we welcome questions and suggestions for upcoming topics.”
Previous topics have included “Keeping Kids Safe & Healthy During the School Year,” and each F.A.S.T. webinar lasts for one hour. The free meetings are held via Zoom and are recorded for later access online. Interpretation is provided in Spanish for attendees.
