WCSD Needs Teacher Aides and Teacher Assistants
Prospective employees are invited to apply at upcoming event
Reno, NV (February 4, 2020) -- The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is struggling with a shortage of teacher aides and teacher assistants who work directly with students in classrooms across the District. Currently, there are nearly 100 open positions for aides and assistants who work with students who are enrolled in special education programs.
Because Washoe County has a low unemployment rate, there is fierce competition for qualified employees. The District is seeking applicants for Teacher Aide 2, Teacher Aide 3, and Teacher Assistant 2 positions.
“These special education positions are a unique opportunity for people who are interested in working in the field of education,” said Jennifer Van Tress, area superintendent for WCSD. “You have opportunities to work throughout a school environment, directly supporting students while learning the ins and outs of an educational system. If you have ever considered working in education and have the desire to work with children with special needs, this will be the place to start.”
“We encourage anyone who has been considering a career in the classroom to come to our event and learn more about the opportunities available,” said Emily Ellison, Chief Human Resources Officer for WCSD. “These positions are a great way to get into education and begin serving students.”
WCSD is hosting an information and application session on Friday, February 7 at 1150 Matley Lane in the Nevada Lab from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Prospective employees will have the opportunity to fill out applications, and representatives from WCSD Talent Acquisition and Human Resources will be available to answer questions.
Please note: In order to complete the application, prospective employees must provide the names, contact information, and email addresses for four professional references as well as their most recent supervisor.
