WCSD Board of Trustees for 2020
Reno, NV (January 14, 2020) – At its regular public meeting, the Washoe County School District (WCSD) Board of Trustees has elected Malena Raymond to serve as president of the Board for 2020. Trustee Dr. Angie Taylor was elected to serve as vice president of the Board, and Trustee Andrew Caudill was elected to serve as clerk.
“I am honored that the Board of Trustees has elected me to serve as president for what is going to be an exciting but very critical year for the Washoe County School District,” said President Raymond.
The District will open two new schools in August and is currently conducting a nationwide search for a new superintendent of schools.
“I congratulate President Raymond on her election,” said WCSD Interim Superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill. “The strong partnership between the Board of Trustees and District staff has enabled us to achieve so much, and I look forward to seeing what all of us accomplish together to support our goal of preparing students for the 21st century. I am very honored to be serving in the capacity as interim superintendent with the Board leadership. I also want to thank Past President Katy Simon Holland for her steadfast leadership, compassion, and continued service to students.”
President Malena Raymond represents District D for the Board of Trustees and is currently employed by the Domestic Violence Resource Center, where she provides crucial support for families who are experiencing family violence. Passionately committed to family engagement, she currently serves on the Nevada Department of Education's Advisory Council on Family Engagement where she works with other members to promote and advance engagement for families of students across the state.
