Catapult Yourself Into the Classroom

Ed Alliance logo Reno, NV (January 6, 2020) -- Education Alliance of Washoe County, in collaboration with the Washoe County School District (WCSD), Renown Health, and Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce, invite community and business professionals to spend their morning walking a mile (or more) in the shoes of local school principals. This year’s Principal for a ½ Day event takes place Friday, February 7.

“It’s all about bringing community into the classroom,” says Kendall Inskip, executive director of the Education Alliance. “Allowing business and community leaders to meet their future employees and consider how they can support student success helps promote a skilled workforce and thriving community. Everyone wins.”

Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce CEO Ann Silver, representing more than 1,500 business members, fully supports business/school partnerships.

“Providing business leaders the chance to see the challenges schools face daily and offer their unique viewpoint is crucial to our evolving community,” said Silver. “Principals are encouraged to visit their match’s business and share their perspective as well.”

Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce will host a Meet Your Match event the evening prior to Principal for a ½ Day, where executives and principals can get to know each other over wine and cheese before spending the following morning together.

Outstanding Partner in Education PiE Champions will also be recognized at the event. Visit to nominate a Partner in Education PiE Champion.

Organizers encourage participating executives and community leaders to invite their school principal to spend part of a day at their workplace as well.

Guest “principals” will have an inside view of modern classrooms and teaching techniques. Participation is limited and January 24 is the registration deadline.
