WCSD Hosting Recruitment Event for School Custodians

Reno, NV (November 29, 2019) – Washoe County School District (WCSD) has numerous position openings for School Custodian Workers who are responsible for keeping our school buildings clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly. Currently, there are nearly 30 school custodian positions open for qualified applicants. Washoe County continues to have a low unemployment rate and there is fierce competition for qualified employees.

WCSD custodians clean about 8,427,350 square feet at 67 elementary schools, 18 middle schools, 18 high schools, and several administrative locations. The Housekeeping Department employs about 430 staff members year-round. While WCSD expands and builds new schools, the demand for staff members will increase and opportunities for career growth may be available.

Most of the School Custodian Worker positions are full-time during a variable swing shift schedule. Custodians have weekends off and are eligible for 11 paid holidays annually. Custodians may be assigned to a school site and will receive one-week structured training. WCSD has about 30 custodian worker positions open for qualified applicants. The District is striving to provide full service every day to clean our schools and keep them in good repair.

WCSD is hosting a Custodian Worker Information Session on Monday, December 2 from 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. This session will be held at 1150 Matley Lane in the Nevada Lab. There will be representatives from WCSD Human Resources available to answer questions and provide information. Employment applications will be provided to interested participants and staff will aid applicants as needed.

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend and be prepared with information to fill out an application and have four professional references with names, telephone numbers, and email addresses. Housekeeping staff members will conduct on-the-spot interviews.

If individuals are interested and unavailable to attend the Custodian Worker Information Session on December 2, they may apply online anytime at www.washoeschools.net/employment and click on Job Opportunities.

Interested individuals may also get support in person at the WCSD Human Resources office at 425 East Ninth Street, Reno or via telephone with the WCSD Talent Acquisition office at (775) 789-4602, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
