John C. Bohach Elementary School
What: The Washoe County School District (WCSD) will break ground on John C. Bohach Elementary School.
When: Thursday, August 22
Where: Next door to Sky Ranch Middle School (corner of Windmill Farms Parkway and David Allen Parkway) Sparks
Details: John C. Bohach Elementary School will serve students in the Spanish Springs area, and will open its doors to students in August 2020.
It is named for Reno Police Officer John Bohach, who was killed in the line of duty on August 22, 2001. He served as a detective in the Juvenile Division, and served as a liaison between families, students, and law enforcement.
Editors’ Note: The ceremony will feature comments by Reno Police Chief Jason Soto, members of the WCSD Board of Trustees, Interim Superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill, and Lindsey Bohach Sadler, one of Officer Bohach’s daughters.
Following these comments, law enforcement officers will join with District staff in breaking ground at the site. The entire ceremony is expected to last approximately 45 minutes, and interviews will be available afterward. JROTC cadets will join with Reno Police Honor Guard for the presentation of the colors and the national anthem.
