Donations Sought for Teachers’ Warehouse
Warehouse serves as important resource for teachers District-wide
Reno, NV (April 10, 2019) – The Education Alliance of Washoe County is encouraging the community to support the heroes of the Washoe County School District (WCSD) by donating supplies to the Teachers’ Warehouse on Friday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Local businesses, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to make donations of arts/crafts, holiday decorations, children’s books, board games, and office and school supplies to the Teachers’ Warehouse, a free resource for teachers to pick up essential supplies for their classrooms. The Warehouse is located at 380 Edison Way in Reno. In addition to supplies, financial donations will help with the purchase of the most highly requested items.
Teachers rely on the supplies donated to the Teachers’ Warehouse to provide their students with the necessary items to enhance classroom learning. Many teachers use their own funds to purchase supplies for classroom activities. Open year-round, the Warehouse is an incredible service for teachers to shop for free. Donation Day on May 3 is held to build awareness and to stock up the Warehouse in time for Teacher Appreciation Week May 6-10.
“Teachers are our heroes, and they do everything in their power to enrich the lives of their students,” said Natha Anderson, president of the Washoe Education Association. “This is a great resource for teachers at all grade levels. As a teacher myself, I have come to the Warehouse to look for materials for my classroom, and I am always able to walk away with supplies I can use to help my students. We are so lucky to have such a caring and generous community to support our educators, and I look forward to this year’s event.”
“The Teachers’ Warehouse makes an impact on our 4,300 hard-working teachers all year long,” said Kendall Inskip, executive director of the Education Alliance. “Donation Day is an opportunity for individuals to CEOs to support our teachers and to celebrate and acknowledge the difference teachers make in our lives. We will accept just about anything teachers can reuse in their classrooms, and we are grateful for the community’s support.”
During Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6-10, companies are encouraged to provide discounts or special offers for teachers. The Teachers’ Warehouse hosts “Shop ‘Til You Drop” for WCSD teachers on May 9. One hundred percent of WCSD schools utilize the Teachers’ Warehouse to enrich the learning experience of all students.
