 High School Students Participate in Mock Election

 

 

What: 2018 Nevada Student Mock Election, where high school students cast their “ballots.” They have discussed the importance of researching issues and candidates and participating in elections when they are able to vote as adults.

 

When: Thursday, November 1

           11:50 a.m.

 

Where: Reno High School

            395 Booth St.

            Reno

 

Details: The Office of the Nevada Secretary of State and the Nevada Department of Education are organizing and sponsoring the 2018 Nevada Student Mock Election, which is designed to help students better understand the value of voting and how their ideas can be expressed in a democratic society.

 

This year’s program will highlight auditing and cybersecurity measures in the voting process.

 

Editors’ Note: Students in Mr. Richard Clark’s “We the People” class will be casting their ballots on computers between 11:50 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. Students will be cleared for media interviews and photography, and staff members will also be available for interviews during this time period.
