New Options in Teacher Preparation:
WCSD Holds ARL Information Fair
What: Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL) Information Fair, where members of the community who are interested in pursuing teaching careers may learn more about how they can obtain teacher licensure and what opportunities are available with the Washoe County School District.

Details: The Nevada Department of Education has authorized the Washoe County School District (WCSD) to offer an Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL) program, which allows teachers to work on provisional licenses while they complete the coursework required for full licensure.
A number of other ARL providers also provide programs in Northern Nevada.
ARL is designed to recruit new teachers for high-needs areas including Elementary Education, Secondary Science, and Special Education.
ARL candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree and may not have been previously licensed or have completed student teaching in the United States.
