  • Mrs. Tina Dolbeare teaches Concert/Mixed Choir (a "come one-come all" non-auditioned choir), Jazz Choir (an auditioned advanced choir), beginning/intermediate/advanced guitar students, beginning and advanced drama students, and stage crew.  Students in choir participate in Solo and Ensemble, WCSD Choral Festival, and three required concerts a year, as well as performing at many other venues.  Guitar students have two required concerts a year, and may participate in Solo and Ensemble. Mrs. Dolbeare hopes to begin a Mariachi ensemble with interested students this year. She is looking for interested guitar, strings, and vocal musicians for this group.  Drama students have performances each semester, and both drama and stage crew students will have the opportunity to be in a troupe with the International Thespian Society.

The fall play was "A Christmas Carol" by John Jakes, based on the novel by Charles Dickens. This "A Christmas Carol" goes beyond other adaptations with a unique dramatic concept: At the opening curtain, Charles Dickens himself is introduced to the audience, ready to present one of the famed readings of his stories that packed auditoriums in Europe and America. Of course, the story chosen is one which he often performed, "A Christmas Carol." The story unfolds behind him, and soon Dickens is weaving in and out of the action, observing, and performing small roles. Tickets were on sale at the door and at showtix4u.com.  The dates were November 7, 8, 9, 15, and 16.

The spring musical was "High School Musical on Stage" produced by Disney! Audition dates were December 10, 12, and 13.  Performance dates were March 4, 5, 6, 12, and 13.  Tickets were on sale at showtix4u.com

Galena has a Drama Club that will meets on Thursdays in the theater after school until 3 PM.  The primary purpose is to prepare for the Thespian Festivals.  Galena students are welcome to join the troupe.  There are several categories to perform in: acting, musical theater, costumes, and tech, just to name a few.  Students will compete in Reno (Regional), Las Vegas (State), and Bloomington, Indiana (national)!  Three Galena students advanced to All State this year and will perform in Las Vegas in February.  They have been invited to join the International Thespian Troupe this summer as well!  The festival is now changed to a remote event due to COVID-19.  Contact Mrs. Dolbeare if you would like to participate.  It is open to any Galena student.
