About Policies and Regulations

  • The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees governs through the creation and implementation of Board policies.  The Superintendent implements those policies by adopting administrative regulations and procedures that promote and enable informed decision making by the Superintendent, Leadership Team, administrators, faculty and staff of the District.  Good governance requires well-written procedures that are easily accessible to staff, parents/guardians and their students, and the community. 

WCSD Policy Online

  • Visit the District's Board Policy Online System by clicking on the icon: 

    Interested individuals may access all Board policies, administrative regulations, administrative procedures, forms and manuals electronically through a user-friendly system known as Board Policy Online.  Simply click on the link to access the search engine, which allows you to search by word, phrase, document title, or number.  You can also sort all documents by policy, regulation, procedure, manual or form.

    Board polices and administrative regulations may also be accessed using the tool bar to the right.

    The following are descriptions of the types of documents found in Board Policy Online.

    Board Policy

    Board policies establish the direction and structure of the District through the authority granted the Board of Trustees.  They reflect the ideology and values of the Board of Trustees and the District by setting goals, assigning authority, and establishing controls.

    Administrative Regulations

    Administrative regulations are detailed directions developed by the Superintendent to implement Board policy.  They tell how, by whom, where and when by assigning details to staff.  These documents provide detailed requirements, procedures, and prohibitions under which the District will operate.

    Administrative Procedures and Manuals

    Administrative procedures and manuals standardize the practices used by staff.  They assure consistency of task performance and help make staff accountable for reliable results.  These documents reflect a combination of past practice, preferred practice, and practical procedures.

Board Policy Committee

  • The Board Policy Committee of the Board of Trustees generally meets on the first Tuesday of each month.  For additional information about the committee, to include meeting agendas, visit the committee's webpage.  Meetings are open to the public and public comment is appreciated.
