WCSD Celebrates Ribbon Cutting Event at New Stead Elementary School

More than 200 people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly rebuilt Stead Elementary School on Wednesday, hearing remarks from Principal Ryan Doetch-Youngblood and other school leaders before touring the new two-story building for the first time.
The new school will open its doors to some 700 students on Monday, and features a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) lab, media center, group learning spaces, and enhanced classrooms.
The new school is a state-of-the-art teaching and learning center and was one of the first 2023 Facility Modernization Plan (FMP) projects to be approved. The FMP guides rebuilds, renovations, maintenance, and construction of schools and district sites. It will replace the old Stead Elementary School, which was constructed nearly 70 years ago in 1958.
