  • The first few weeks of sixth grade have been a tremendous success!

Over the first weeks, we have focused on reading the novel Walk Two Moons and worked on character analysis and making connections to the text.  In math, students have already shown the ability to meet standards in understanding positive and negative integers and absolute value.

As a reminder, even though students may not be coming home with homework sheets, they are still required to read 30 minutes each night.  If work is not completed in class they will have additional homework.  Ask to see your child's daily planner that shows each day's assignments and required homework, as well as daily reminders.

This Tuesday and next Tuesday students will be taking their district MAP assessments in both reading and math.  These tests are used to determine placement in middle school ELA and math classes.  Encourage your student to do their best and focus during these mornings so as to better support their future education.

If you have not already, please review the district attendance policy as major changes have been made for the 2018-19 school year.
