Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! It is an honor for me to serve as the principal of Dilworth STEM Academy; to be able to work with 700 amazing young adults and the tremendously talented staff. We have high expectations for all scholars of DSA and we are committed to building lasting relationships with them and their families. The road to college and career can be challenging, the more people a child has committed and invested in their future, the higher chance of goals being reached. Our staff works hard every day to expose our students to college and career opportunities through rigorous lessons that engage and promote curiosity. Beyond the classroom there a number of other ways for students to engage at DSA. Each day our library is open after school for students to access so they can complete homework or classwork, work with a teacher, use the technology, or study with friends. Our Science Olympiad and Robotics teams are working hard to prepare for local and state competitions. Our athletic department includes cross country, basketball, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, and track and field. Daily students have the choice to be involved with organized intramural activities. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a class designed to prepare students for college and other postsecondary opportunities is offered as an elective and school-wide strategies are utilized. We have nearly 100 students involved with this elective class, helping us to pioneer a plan that will lead to Dilworth becoming an AVID school within the next few years.
We are committed to ensuring every scholar has a successful year and encourage parents and families to work with us every day to achieve this. Our doors are always open and we welcome all feedback! Let's make this the best year Knights! Once a Knight, always a Knight!!
