Student Advisory Council
The Washoe County School District (WCSD) Student Advisory Council to the superintendent consists of students from each of the District's high schools. The Council is an exceptional team of student leaders who engage with school district staff in active, meaningful conversation. The students' input, ideas and advocacy are welcomed by the Superintendent. The students consider a wide range of topics, including anti-bullying initiatives, cultural competency, school procedures and possible changes to the school calendar, among other issues. The Council generally meets on the third Tuesday of each month durng the school year. During the summer, student representatives get together to help shape the program for the upcoming school year. The program is student-driven and provides learning opportunities for the Superintendent, students and staff in a relaxed and respectful environment.
The Council is open to all high school students within WCSD seeking to develop student advocacy and leadership skills. Please contact your principal if you are interested in being part of the team!
