No. WCSD will continue to operate student transportation, including buses and drivers. Züm is simply a tool that helps us provide better communication and updates for families.  

With Züm, families can:  

• Monitor their child’s bus ride in real time  

• Receive notifications if the bus is on time or running late  

• See when the bus has reached the stop before theirs  

• View updates through a mobile app or a computer 

• By downloading the Züm mobile app (available on Apple and Android)  

• Parents and students will need to download separate apps. The student app is called Züm – Riders and the parent app is called Züm – Student Transportation. 

Parents are able to view rides through the Züm app.

1. Open the Züm app.
   You will see a ride banner on the home screen for either the ride currently in progress or the upcoming ride.
2. Tap on the banner to display the ride details screen.
   • For rides that are currently in progress, these details include scheduled and actual pickup and dropoff times, including ETAs, and a map of the ride.
   • For upcoming rides, scheduled pickup and dropoff times are shown along with a map or the ride.

Note: Upcoming rides are generally available in one-week ahead of time.

• • Start of school: rides for that first week appear the day before the first day.
  • Ongoing: rides appear the week before they are available.

3. Tap the Rides tab in the bottom navigation bar to see the list of your student’s upcoming rides (or rides that are in progress). Tapping on any ride in the Upcoming Rides list will display its ride details.

To get started:  

• Go to the Züm registration portal:  register.ridezum.com/wcsd-sy-2026-27/bus-lookup.  

• Enter your information to check your students transportation eligibility.  

• If eligible for transportation, the system will show your student’s assigned bus stop.  

• Please make sure your Infinite Campus is up to date, including yours and your students’ contact information.  

If  WCSD has approved transportation for your student, Züm sets up your profile using the information  provided in Infinite Campus.

Using Züm is  optional. If a family chooses not to use the app, their child will continue to use WCSD's transportation as normal.

Parents and students will see a route number listed in the app, this will serve as your students bus number. The route number will be posted on the window of the bus.

Züm notifications and information will only be available to those marked ‘guardian’ in Infinite Campus. To update your child’s Infinite Campus, please reach out directly to their school. 

• Elementary and middle school students will receive a physical bus pass, which can be attached to their backpack.  

• High school students will have the option to either request an RFID bus pass or use the Züm - Riders app on their smartphone. Bus passes can be requested through the Transportation Department at 775-337-7769.   

• Infinite Campus will no longer be used to scan on and off the bus.  

• If a student doesn’t have access to their phone or bus pass, the bus driver will scan them onto the bus.  

• If a bus pass is lost, please reach out to the Transportation Department at 775-337-7769.  

Yes. Parents will receive notifications when their student:  

• Scans onto the bus  

• Scans off the bus  

• Arrives at or departs from their assigned stop  

 Züm helps improve the transportation experience by offering:  

• Real-time notifications into bus arrivals and departures  

• Improved safety features with students scanning on and off the bus  

• Better communication through timely notifications  

• Increased accountability across the system  

• More efficient routing and scheduling  

• For account access or app support: Follow support directions within the Züm platform.  

• For student information updates: Contact your child’s school.  

• For transportation questions: Contact the district transportation department at 775-337-7769. 

No, you will be able to cancel their ride via the Züm app. Please be sure to cancel their bus ride if they are not riding for 3+ consecutive days.
