The office of Student Enrollment and Records works with sponsoring organizations and their representatives each year to place international exchange students in the Washoe County School District.

Our application process has transitioned to Informed K-12. This is an online application system that is easy to follow.

All interested organizations wishing to apply for the International Student Exchange Program will need to use Informed K12. The application window will be open from January 30, 2026, through May 1, 2026.  The application link will be posted on this page, on January 30, 2026. All applicants will have the same opportunity to apply; however, spots are limited, so early submission is encouraged. Once the application window is closed, WCSD will not accept any new applications. 

Local representatives, who must reside in Washoe County, are required to attend a mandatory orientation. Details regarding the orientation will be provided by email. The orientation will take place once a month starting in February through May. 

Student placement documentation must be submitted no later than June 5th, 2026.

International exchange students must arrive at least one week prior to the beginning of the school year. They are required to attend a full school day on the first day of school. Enrollment at the host school must be completed one week prior to the start of school and after the international exchange student has arrived in Washoe County. International exchange students must declare their intent to graduate in the Washoe County School District before the end of the ninth week of the fall semester in which they enroll.
