Additional Required Training
Once hired, a coach will NOT receive payment if the following three trainings are not complete.
- Mandated Reporting, Harassment, Bullying Training
Offered by the district as an Office of Civil Rights (OCR) Training Class, should be done prior to the start of the sports season.
To register for the training session click on the link of the training date you prefer. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email.
All 2025-2026 NEW WCSD COACHES are required to take this course prior to the start of their athletic season. OCR Training is now good for 3 years. New District Coaches - please choose a date of your preference prior to the start of your season to attend this course. This course is only a 1hr training session in person.
Washoe County School District Requirements for Coaching
All coaches must complete the following steps before they are approved to coach in the district:

Submit a job application through the WCSD Human Resources Department.

After completing your application, you will receive an email from HR with the next steps in the hiring process.

Complete CPR and AED Training (#14831) through PowerSchool.
PowerSchool (truenorthlogic.com) -
Meet with your school’s HR Generalist at the district office.

If an I-9 is required, you must present two (2) forms of valid government-issued identification.

Complete fingerprinting prior to your district background appointment.
Fingerprints are valid for five (5) years. -
If fingerprints and/or the background check do not clear, the matter will be referred to the Labor Relations Office for review and further explanation regarding eligibility for employment with the district.
NIAA Required Coaching Programs
Are mandatory by the NIAA and checked by each individual schools’ Athletic Director.
- Coaching Certification for specific sport
- NFHA Concussion in Sports renewed every three years.
