To REGAIN "Traditional" Status at the Quarter or Semester
To LOSE "Traditional" Status at the Quarter or Semester
Ineligible students must have a 2.0 GPA, pass a minimum of 4 classes, and failed no more than one
class during the previous quarter or semester to go on "traditional status".
Students who have LESS than 2.0 GPA and/or did NOT pass a minimum of 4 classes and/or failed more
than one class during the previous quarter or semester go on "non-traditional status" until the
next quarter or semester.
ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY CHECK PROCEDURES
Student-athletes in WCSD must maintain passing grades in all subjects for week-to-week (Monday to
Saturday) eligibility.
"Traditional" status: Students participating in Nevada Interscholastic athletics must earn a
minimum of two (2) units of credit and have passed at least four classes for the preceding quarter
or semester with a 2.0 unweighted GPA. Students may have only failed a maximum of one of the classes they are enrolled in during that quarter or semester. If a student is failing a class at
any three-week check, they will have a one-week probation to get the grade to passing before
becoming ineligible and will be checked weekly until they are passing that course or they meet the
quarter/semester requirements (whichever comes first).
"Non-traditional" status: Students who did not receive a 2.0, and/or did not pass a minimum of 4
classes and/or failed more than one class during the previous quarter or semester may regain
eligibility at the first three-week check or any subsequent check during the season. If the student
is failing a class at any three-week check, they will be immediately ineligible until the next
three-week check with no probation week. If the student is passing all classes at the three-week
check, they are eligible until the next three-week check.
"Non-traditional" status students may regain "traditional" status at the quarter or semester
(whichever comes first) by receiving a 2.0 unweighted GPA, passing four or more classes, and can
only fail one course. "Traditional" status students may lose this status if they do not meet these
requirements.
Coaches are given a list of all students receiving a failing grade after the Check/Probation check.
"Traditional" status students receiving a failing grade are on probation for one week and checked
on the following Monday. Students still failing the same course are declared ineligible for the
week (Monday to Saturday). "Non-traditional" status students are immediately ineligible until the
next three-week check or quarter/semester grades are posted (whichever comes first).
Students are to be deemed ineligible, per regulation, until the Athletic Administrator verifies
through Infinite Campus the student’s eligibility and cannot regain eligibility midweek.
It is the school’s responsibility to request grades for students attending technical academies,
community colleges, home school, charter schools, etc.
