Motor Unit

Our Motor Unit was started in 2006 and is used primarily for traffic enforcement throughout the District in school zones. Motor Officers ride BMW motorcycles.   These vehicles allow for easier maneuverability through the tight confines of parking lots and school properties. The motor unit may issue a  citation for traffic violations such as speeding in a school zone, unlawful U-turn in a school zone, or failure to yield to a pedestrian.  Motor Officers are also used for special events and escort duties, and work closely with other department's motor units.
