Our Mission
The Multi-Tiered System of Supports Department works to develop Washoe County School District's capacity to create, support, and sustain school climates that are safe, orderly, predictable, and positive, so as to maximize opportunities for academic, behavioral, social, and emotional success for all.
In accordance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the Nevada Legislature passed AB275 (2017) that formed the Nevada Integrated Student Supports (NISS). NISS is an equitable integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), a framework that builds systems for strong, effective, and sustainable implementation of evidence-based practices to ensure Nevada's students receive the most impactful services, practices, and resources based upon responsiveness to effective instruction and intervention.
