2026 Student Voice Champions of the Year!

2026 Middle School Student Voice Champion of the year: Principal-Dustin Beil (Shaw MS)

Mr. Biel is in his first year as principal of Shaw Middle School embraced student voices with great fidelity.  Mr. Biel consistently met with his school's student advisory council building strong collaboration with the students. He asked the students what areas they thought the school could improve and challenged them to update the school's acronym and to think critically about the school culture they wanted. As principal Mr. Beil exemplifies student voice practices as a principal creating a school community where student voices aren't only listened too but included.

2026 High School Student Voice Champion of the year: teacher/Advisor Raynee Kendall (Hug HS)

Raynee Kendall a teacher at Hug High school took on the task of being the new student voice advisor for the school.  Ms. Kendall who teaches a freshman seminar class for the school brought student voice to the class.  Incorporating student voice into the student's schedule allowed the student to engage in the process during the day, which has proven to be the most successful integration of the student voice process. Students worked to identify areas of improvement and get student feedback on how the school could improve.  Ms. Kendall led the way! Building a strong foundation for the school's student voice practices and increased not only the number of the students involved but the impact of student voice on the school.
