Substitute Compensation

Daily Pay
Full Day (More Than 4 Hours): $143.00
Half Day (4 Hours or Less): $71.50
This includes Principal Directed, Intervention, and Roving Substitute positions.
Times are based on the start and end times listed in the Red Rover system. Pay does not include the required 30-minute arrival time before class starts.
Long-Term Assignments
Guest Teachers qualify as Long-Term Substitutes if:
- They substitute for a teacher who is out for an extended period, or
- They work in the same vacant teacher allocation and are hired in that long-term position. This is requested by the school administration through Sub Services.
Long-Term Pay
Full Day (More Than 4 Hours): $171.00
Half Day (4 Hours or Less): $85.50

Substitutes are paid monthly.
- Each pay period covers work days from the 11th of one month through the 10th of the next (Example: September 11 – October 10).
- Deposits are made into your checking or savings account by the 22nd of each month.
- Payroll Calendar 2026-26
If you believe there is an error or have not received your pay, contact Substitute Services immediately. Payroll allows only two days to resolve discrepancies and issue a supplemental check. Late reporting may result in waiting until the next month for missing pay.

If You Are Sent to a School in Error
You may call Substitute Services or log into Red Rover from your app to search for another assignment. If no replacement assignment is available, you will receive $25 in compensation.
Traveling Music / Itinerant Gifted & Talented
- Record mileage between schools using the mileage chart.
- Submit the form in a school envelope addressed to the appropriate department.

Natchez Elementary & Gerlach K-12
- Record mileage from the school nearest to your home to the school.
- Submit the form to the School Secretary.
Mileage reimbursement checks are mailed to your home.
- Charter school partners set their own pay rates and manage their own payrolls.
- You must complete the required paperwork with each charter school to receive payment.
- Important: Days worked at charter partner schools do not count toward WCSD’s 10-times-per-year work requirement.
