Community Food Resources Available for WCSD Families
WCSD Schools
Students attending a school where all students currently receive free breakfast or lunch, a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school, can continue to receive free meals every school day.
In collaboration with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, several school sites provide free dinner programs for students through the Kids Café Dinner Program. This convenient service is designed to ease the burden on families. Here is the most current list of locations and times.
The district's Children in Transition (CIT) program has an extensive food pantry for families in need. Food is accessible through the program's case workers.
Family Resource Centers (FRC)
Our district is committed to supporting our community. That's why we have five Family Resource Center locations that offer food pantries available to anyone living in the surrounding community, with no income qualifications for accessing the food pantries.

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada hosts Mobile Harvest distribution of fresh foods and vegetables every other week at the FRCs located at O'Brien Middle School (address) and Desert Skies Middle School (address). Visit the FRC Facebook page for updates on food distribution:
The FRCs are accepting donations of non-perishable items at their main office, located at 5450 Riggins Court, Reno, for distribution to the five community locations. Donors may bring small-denomination gift cards that can be used to purchase small amounts of food, which can then be distributed to families in need who lack transportation to access the FRC centers.
Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada
Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is serving free hot dinners to families with children on Saturday and Sunday evenings from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. through the month of November at St. Vincent’s Dining Room, 325 Valley Road, Reno. Families should bring their EBT cards and a photo ID.
In addition to the Dining Room family meals on Saturdays and Sundays, the food pantries provided by Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN) have expanded their hours: Saturday pantries are located at 430 E. Moana Lane and 130 West Gepford Pkwy in Sun Valley. They are open on November 8th, 15th, and 22nd from 9 AM - 1 PM. These are in addition to regular CCNN pantry hours which are five days a week. View their services and schedules here. All are welcome to come to pantries every other week in November. (Normally, clients can visit a pantry one time per month. In November, because of the interruption in SNAP benefits, clients can visit pantries every other week.)
WIC Services
Assistance services offered by the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program are still provided. These services are for families with children under five and pregnant women. WIC services are available at St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic Charities, Washoe County, and at local Tribal offices.
