WCSD Library Manual (revised 4/25)
The Library Services Manual has been prepared to provide librarians and administrators with information about library procedures and programs in the Washoe County School District. It has been developed especially for those persons actively engaged in the operation of Library Media Centers in the District.

WCSD Library Flowchart - Request for Reconsideration – This flowchart will assist principals in determining next steps in working with a parent in regard to a book concern at the site level.

WCSD District Reconsideration Flowchart – This flowchart outlines the districtwide process for reviewing challenged library materials after a school site decision, detailing committee review procedures, timelines, decision-making criteria, and final notification steps.

WCSD Form - Request for Reconsideration of Media  - See flowchart for when this form is applicable.

WCSD Middle School Letter (Template) - Request to opt out of checking out young adult books.

Elementary Librarians - Request your substitute here (we are still using AESOP)

Library Substitutes
To become a library substitute, one must be interviewed and approved by Library Services.
Contact Carrie Parker (carrie.parker@washoeschools.net) for more information.

To become a substitute, complete the job application on the Washoe County School District website under Careers.

There are two separate opportunities:

  • Certified Substitute: Substitute for a classroom teacher or a middle/high school librarian.
  • Educational Support Personnel (ESP): Substitute for an elementary school librarian.

Please note that you cannot be both a Certified Substitute and an ESP Substitute. You must choose one or the other.

If you are interested in applying for one of these roles, complete the appropriate application on the WCSD Careers page. Each position requires its own account with a unique username, though you may use the same email address for both.
