Intuit Food Truck Program - Reed High School

Reed High School's CTE Culinary Program Food Truck, "Global Street Foods", is the first Washoe County School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) Culinary Food Truck.

The food truck was purchased by Intuit as part of their food truck program. The Intuit food truck program is a Simulated Workplace experience that allows students to build real-world, hands-on skills and experience in a professional context, with an emphasis on entrepreneurial education and cross-functional collaboration across Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways. The Intuit food truck program was born out of a need to support schools in delivering robust CTE (Career & Technical Education) programming for their students.

Students enrolled in the Culinary CTE program in high school require access to a commercial kitchen in order to effectively develop the skill base they need to prepare for a career within the culinary industry.  In addition to the culinary classroom’s kitchen at Reed High School, the food truck will provide a literal “internship on wheels” for student chefs to offer their culinary concoctions to the local community.
