School Mental Health Professionals

WCSD professionally licensed school support personnel enhance academic success by addressing students' emotional and mental health needs, reducing barriers to learning, and fostering a supportive environment. An effective school leadership team will ensure that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, align with Nevada Department of Education policy, and reflect best practice guidelines to maximize collaboration and service delivery. 

School Counselors

Support all students in the areas of academic achievement, career development, and social-emotional development through universal prevention and targeted interventions.  They provide counseling services through instruction, appraisal/advisement, short-term counseling, and community referrals.

School Social Workers

Implement evidence-based mental and behavioral health interventions across all tiers of support. Serve as a vital connection between home, school, and community to address challenges that impact academic success and social-emotional well-being.

School Clinical Mental Health Professionals

Facilitate and provide leadership for the development of a continuum of clinical mental and behavioral health services for students and families. They provide direct research and evidence-based, culturally competent therapeutic services to students, families, and staff. 

School Psychologists

Consult with teachers and parents to provide coordinated services and support for students struggling with learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral problems, and those experiencing behavioral health problems.

Behavior Specialists

Provide behavioral support through assessments, data collection, and work with school teams to create and evaluate effective plans for student success. They coach staff, conduct professional development sessions, and perform fidelity checks to ensure consistent implementation of support strategies

Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Specialize in applied behavior analysis.  Assess and treats behavioral concerns, particularly for students with disabilities.  Design and supervise behavior intervention plans, collect and analyze data on behavior, and train school teams and families. 

Contracted Mental Health Agencies

Provide co-located therapy to students in a school setting, helping to remove barriers to clinical mental health support.

School Nurses

Support student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all students. They address the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students and support their achievement in the learning process.
