Nevada Department of Education and Washoe County School District  Announce Agreement to Support Students with Special Needs

The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) and Washoe County School District (WCSD) announced today the approval of a collaborative agreement to support students with specialized needs.   

WCSD filed a legal action in April 2025 against NDE regarding the use of Contingency Account for Special Education (CASE) funding to support a Washoe County student with disabilities and unique needs. On Tuesday, WCSD Board of Trustees approved a mutually beneficial settlement agreement to end the litigation.

The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is celebrating an increase in its graduation rate, as 4,277 students earned their high school diploma and walked across the graduation stage in the Class of 2025. This represents a graduation rate of 82.95 percent, a 1.2 percentage point increase from the previous year.
