Holiday Card Contest

2025HolidayCardContestWebBanner

It’s time for the 15th Annual WCSD Holiday Card Design Competition! We know there are many talented artists in our school district. We’d love to share that talent with the Washoe County community by sending them a holiday card created by our students. The top four overall winners will receive prizes and recognition at the December 9th Board of Trustees meeting.

Here are the details:

  • The contest is open to all WCSD students.
  • Submissions may be an original painting, drawing, digital artwork or photograph and must have a non-religious winter holiday theme. Any artwork that depicts copyrighted images will be rejected. For example, no artwork depicting characters from television shows, movies, video games, or books will be accepted.
  • Size is 8.5” x 11” vertical or horizontal, color or black and white. No glitter or glued objects, please.
  • Digital entries may be submitted in high resolution .jpeg or .pdf formats to mgillis@washoeschools.net.
  • Non-electronic artwork may be scanned or photographed and e-mailed to mgillis@washoeschools.net.
  • Entries may also be sent to Melissa Gillis in the Office of Communications in school mail or through the U.S. Postal Service at the address below or may be dropped off at the district administration building at 425 E. 9th St. in Reno Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For school mail, please allow five working days for processing and delivery.
  • Submissions must be labeled with the student’s name, age/grade, school, and phone number or e-mail address.
  • All entries must be received by Tuesday, November 25th by 4:00 p.m. Students may submit multiple entries.
  • Three entries each from grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 will be chosen as finalists, and one winner from each level will be featured on printed and electronic holiday cards from WCSD to the community.
  • The four category winners will be announced at the Board of Trustees meeting on December 9th. Winners, their families, school principals, and teachers will be contacted prior to the event so they may attend. The four winners will be awarded prizes and will have their artwork presented in a frame during the presentation.
  • Finalists and winners will be featured on the district’s website and social media and will receive a special certificate.
  • All entries will be on display at the district’s administration building.
