The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is expanding pre-kindergarten opportunities for the 2026–27 school year, increasing program capacity from 710 seats to approximately 900 seats across multiple elementary, middle, and charter school sites.
This expansion aligns with the Nevada Department of Education’s (NDE) broadened eligibility criteria, including:

Children living in rural, frontier, remote areas, or tribal lands

Children in foster care, kinship care, or with a parent who is incarcerated

Children experiencing homelessness

Children assigned to one- or two-star rated schools

Children from migrant or refugee families

Children living in single-parent households

The Pre-K program provides high quality early childhood education services for qualifying families in the Washoe County School District. Due to the high demand for these programs, we require all our available spaces to be filled with regularly attending, active participants.
All families enrolled in the Pre-K program are required to fulfill the following:
- Attend Family Orientation
- Attend Family conferences
- Attend Workshops & Family Events
